Donegal Online Planning System and partner SoftCo acclaimed as an EU 'eGovernment Best Practice'
July 19, 2010
Donegal, Ireland. SoftCo, leaders in Business Process Automation solutions, are delighted to announce that Donegal County Council has upgraded to the latest SoftCo R8 platform. SoftCo and Donegal County Council have been working together for over 10 years receiving multiple awards at national and European Union level. The Donegal Online Planning System (DOPS) has also been recognised by the European Union as an eGovernment best practice example under the Interreg IVA PIKE Project. This best practice has been adopted and adapted by a number of public administrations across Europe.
SoftCo R8 ensures the seamless capture and secure compliant archive and retrieval of all documents, and delivers Donegal County Council’s services directly to the public. Planning information is now available instantly online to all citizens throughout the region and wider world, removing the need and overhead of calls and visits.
"We really needed a solution like SoftCo R8 to allow us have all documents online at all times. No matter where our staff or customers are, they can access the information they need," commented Sean Dunnion, Project Leader, Information Systems, Donegal County Council.
The successful implementation in Planning has led to the rollout of R8 to the Housing and Finance departments in the Council. "Our business continuity options and security of data are much improved by moving to compliant software-based data storage in R8," commented Sean. “R8 can make big savings for public sector organisations. We are great advocates of this system."
