SEI Gathering 2020 Takes Place to Celebrate Innovation amongst Social Entrepreneurs in Ireland

SoftCo, proud partners of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI), were delighted to take part in the SEI Gathering 2020 which took place on Wednesday 14th October.  The event moved online this year and was hosted by SEI CEO Darren Ryan, with members of the SEI community joining via video chat.

The SEI Gathering showcased some of the social entrepreneurs from the SEI community who have been innovative, visionary and overcome a number of challenges in their response to the Covid-19 pandemic. A total of eight social entrepreneurs from six organizations were recognized on the night.

Introducing the different categories were Hazel Mitchell of eBay, Harry Hartford of Causeway Capital and Susan Spence, Co-Founder of SoftCo. Susan introduced the “SOAR” category comprising Hugh Brennan of Ó Cualann Cohousing Alliance, and David Neville and Pádraic Hogan of jumpAgrade with both organizations sharing their stories with the SEI community on the night.

Commenting on the evening, Susan Spence said

“Since SoftCo was established in 1990, we have always been aware of our responsibilities to our community. We set up the SoftCo Foundation with a commitment to providing support to projects worldwide that can make a difference to peoples’ lives. We are delighted to be associated with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland and help entrepreneurs as they develop innovative solutions to address social and environmental challenges.”

 

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI) is a not-for-profit organization that supports social entrepreneurs with innovative ideas to tackle Ireland’s social problems. Its mission is to find people with solutions to social problems and support them on every step of their journey. Since its foundation in 2004, SEI has supported more than 300 social entrepreneurs.

The SoftCo Foundation was established with the goal of providing support to projects worldwide that could make a difference to people’s lives. The goal of the foundation is to take a practical approach and to provide assistance to those who need it the most. The foundation supports many different charities, including Irish Injured Jockeys, Guy’s Cancer and CMRF Crumlin.
