EuroHockey 2023 European Championship Qualifiers

SoftCo sponsored Ireland Women’s Hockey Team will host the Women’s 2022 EuroHockey Championship Qualifier Event at the Sport Ireland Campus in Abbottstown commencing on Thursday 18 August, while the SoftCo sponsored Ireland Men’s Hockey Team are bound for Calais, France for their qualification tournament for next summer’s Championship.

It will be the first capped games for the Irish Women on home turf since the 2019 Olympic qualifiers in Donnybrook with Ireland coming up against Poland (WR 27TH) on Thursday 18 August, Czech Republic on Saturday 18 August (WR 23rd) and Turkey on Sunday August 21 (WR 33rd).

The winner of the competition will qualify for the top tier of 2023’s European Championships which, in turn, is a vital steppingstone on the road to Paris 2024.

Over 1,200 seats have been installed around the pitch at the Sport Ireland Campus, along with a fan village, food and beverage concessions and a children’s skill zone to add to the atmosphere.

The 14th-ranked SoftCo sponsored Irish Men’s Hockey Team have a tough competition in the EuroHockey Championship Qualifier Event in Calais, France, placed in Qualifier B alongside host side France (WR 13th), Turkey (WR 44th) and Lithuania (WR 62nd).

The Irish Men take on Lithuania in their opening game on Wednesday 24 August, followed by host France on Thursday 25 August and their final game is on Saturday 27 August against Turkey.

The winner of this competition will also qualify for the top tier of 2023’s European Championships.

August 18: Ireland v Poland, 7.30pm
August 20: Ireland v Czech Republic, 1pm
August 21: Ireland v Turkey, 1pm

 

Men’s EuroHockey Championship Qualifiers

Location: Sporting Hockey Club Calais

August 24: Ireland v Lithuania, 4:45pm
August 25: Ireland v France, 8pm
August 27: Ireland v Turkey, 10am
