SoftCo today announced that our very own Cheltenham winner, Mrs Milner, has regrettably retired from racing due to injury, and will join her mother in the family stud business.
In 2021, Mrs Milner won the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham festival in fine style. In 2022, she was badly impeded at the second last in the Cheltenham Grade 1 Mare’s contest, but battled on in her usual committed feisty style to finish third.
Mrs Milner had a wonderful career and provided all of us in SoftCo with amazing memories. She is a special horse to everyone, but especially to SoftCo founders Jim Coffey and Susan Spence, who named her after her Leeds hero, James Milner.
Jim Coffey commented:
“It was extraordinary to breed such a wonderful mare and watch her grow from a small foal into a champion. She will continue to be absolutely cherished by us all and will now join her mother, Thegirlonthehill, to produce the next generation of champions.”
We would like to thank Paul, James and all the team in Toberona for looking after her so well, they all loved her. Special mention to her best mate, Barry Nolan, who rode her out for so long and was her Cheltenham travelling companion.
