To mark International Women’s Day, Hockey Ireland sponsors SoftCo, Park Developments, and Saba restaurants, hosted a lunch to celebrate the Irish Senior Women’s Hockey Team and their fantastic achievements.
The lunch was attended by some of the Irish Women’s Hockey Squad, the backroom team and management, and a number of Irish female business leaders from various sectors.
The event kicked off with a Q&A session hosted by sports journalist and television presenter, Evanne Ni Chuilinn. Evanne interviewed Sports Psychologist Kate Kirby, Head Coach Sean Dancer and four-time Olympian Olive Loughnane on the preparation needed for the Olympics, the importance of mental strength and what it takes to have a winning mentality.
The lunch was a well-earned break from their grueling training schedule as the Irish Women’s Hockey Squad prepare for the upcoming Humidity Tour in Durban, South Africa.
Team Manager, Arlene Boyle said:
“Firstly, I would like to thank SoftCo, Park Developments and Saba for all their support. There is tremendous commitment and belief in the squad as we continue our fantastic journey. We are working hard to achieve our ultimate goal of winning a medal at the Olympics”.
Susan Spence, Co-Founder of SoftCo said:
“International Women’s Day is all about recognizing the achievements of women. The Irish Women’s Hockey Team are the epitome of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. We are delighted to play a small part in helping these inspirational women achieve their dreams.”
