Lead UX Designer
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Lead UX Designer to shape our new UX practice and deliver exceptional product designs during a critical phase of technology modernisation. Working closely with the Chief Product & Technology Officer, you will establish a robust UX practice, define our UX strategy, and collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to design and prototype solutions for both existing and new products.

Lead UX Designer – Your role:
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Lead UX Designer to shape our new UX practice and deliver exceptional product designs during a critical phase of technology modernisation. Working closely with the Chief Product & Technology Officer, you will establish a robust UX practice, define our UX strategy, and collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to design and prototype solutions for both existing and new products.
Your responsibilities:
Vision & Strategy
- Define and communicate a compelling UX vision that supports broader business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing) to modernise the front end and enhance user experiences.
Establish the UX Practice
- Set up processes and frameworks for user-centred, lean product development.
- Promote a culture of UX best practice, ensuring user-centred design principles are embedded across the organisation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
Team Leadership
- Plan for and grow a future UX team.
- Recruit, mentor, and inspire designers with diverse skill sets (Interaction, Visual, Research).
Hands-On Design & Execution
- Collaborate with Product Managers to understand user needs, business goals, and technical constraints (legacy and new products).
- Contribute as an individual designer: creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and feedback analysis to refine and validate solutions.
- Work closely with Engineers to ensure seamless design handovers, catering to both current and modernised technology stacks.
- Maintain and evolve design systems, ensuring visual and functional consistency across platforms.
- Advocate for UX best practice and accessibility standards throughout the design lifecycle.
- Develop design systems and pattern libraries in partnership with Front-End Developers.
- Track and report on UX metrics (e.g. usability tests, satisfaction scores) to drive continuous improvements.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Collaborate with Product Managers on product roadmaps and user requirements.
- Present design rationale to stakeholders, influencing decisions at all levels.
- Champion data-driven, user-centric perspectives in product strategy discussions.
Innovation & Growth
- Stay current with emerging UX trends, tools, and methodologies.
- Promote innovative, forward-thinking design practices that elevate the product experience.
Your profile:
- 5+ years of UX/UI design experience, particularly on web-based B2B applications.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end involvement in UX projects.
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (Figma preferred, Axure, Adobe XD, Sketch, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage the full UX process (research, ideation, prototyping, usability testing, iterative refinement).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of user-centred design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.
- Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
- Familiarity with both Java/HTML-based front ends and modern Angular frameworks.
- Strong visual design skills (typography, colour, layout) and responsive/mobile-first design knowledge.
- Awareness of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG).
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Desirable Skills
- Experience creating and managing design systems or component libraries.
- Working knowledge of frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Experience using analytics tools to derive data-driven insights.
- Background in enterprise or complex SaaS application design.
- Proven success in technology modernisation or transformation projects.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Enthusiastic about crafting cohesive, engaging user experiences across diverse platforms.
- Open to feedback and committed to a collaborative design process.
